Weekend in Utah – Day 2

Day 2 of our trip started off with a drive to Tooele to help Matt’s parents look at fountains for their garden. Lily was in heaven with all the water and rocks around to play with.

Such a big girl sitting all by herself.

Checking out the numerous benches to see which one was just right.

We went to lunch at a greasy little burger joint that was recommended to us and it didn’t disappoint. We were all quite satisfied.

Then we headed to our nephew, Jake’s birthday party. Living out of state makes it difficult to make it to birthday parties and some of the other nephews reminded us of the fact that we missed their birthdays. Sorry guys, makes it a little easier when some were born on a holiday weekend.

After cake and present opening everyone rushed to the playground and soccer fields.

Matt was being such a good dad helping Lily down the slide. And me, being the photographer and wanting a good shot, told him to send her down facing forward. I didn’t realize until it was too late that the drop at the end of the slide was way too high for Lily to manage. The second picture shows her right before her feet slid under the end of the slide and she fell flat on her face into the wood. She didn’t even cry at all, but I felt terrible. And I didn’t even get that “good shot” I was hoping for!

Here he is being a good dad again, and me keeping my mouth shut.

The slides were definitely a favorite with all the kids.

After the birthday party we all went to Sharlie and Jason’s so the adults could drop off the kids. Amanda and Natalie offered to watch all the little ones while the adults went out to dinner. Because Lily only had about a 30 minute nap in the car, we decided to take her to dinner with us.

When we got back, we got to see all the kids having a great time with rock band.

Even Grandma was getting in on the fun! She’s such a great Grandma!May 28, 2011_5948

Payton was being such a ham for the camera. He would stop his dancing and smile at me, waiting for me to capture the moment.

May 28, 2011_5953

He even froze while dancing with whoever was around him.

Sunday – Lunch with the Chapmans

The girls were having a great time jumping off the bed onto the trundle bed underneath. Lily, thankfully wasn’t ready to jump off and just enjoyed watching her cousins.

Smiling through the screen door.

As a joke, Matt gave Lily some rhubarb from the garden to chew on. Thinking she would hate it and make a funny face.

May 29, 2011_5976

She surprised us all and spent the next 5 minutes or so chewing on her rhubarb. Silly girl!

We had dinner with the Burks.

My parents have had this tire swing for as long as I can remember. My dad uses the old, used tires from the cars and cuts them into a swing and then mounts them onto the chains. A towel is usually put down to protect their legs from the scratchy tires. ALL the kids LOVE these swings!

I remember hours of fun spent on these swings, and I’m so happy Lily is able to experience it too!

Her feet aren’t quite long enough for the pedals.

Jake got his HUGE soccer ball for his birthday.

We drove back to Denver on Monday. Lily was getting some good reading time in while we drove through the small towns of Colorado along I-70. Good times!
