We’re Packin’ it Up

We’re leaving our beautiful city

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And heading to

Denver skyline from City Park Golf Course. We are going to miss the east coast, and all it has to offer, so dearly. We have loved living close to so many wonderful places and people. There have been some special memories made here and feel like our time was well spent. I’m getting teary so I’ll stop there. But we’re looking forward to what Denver has to offer. We’re also ready to be closer to family and the mountains, and to having some income again :)

Two Months

Our Sweet Lily is TWO MONTHS! I feel like I just did her one month post. Time flies!Apr262010_0032

Lily at two months…

  • you make eye contact with us all the time and you’re able to see us from a few feet
  • you smile and “talk” to us with your adorable coos and we can’t get enough of it!
  • you like to suck on your fingers and sometimes push your binkie out of your mouth for better access
  • we’re wondering if, one of these days, just your thumb will make it to your mouth and you’ll lose interest in your binkie altogether (your Dad hopes that doesn’t happen)
  • you are getting better at holding your head up for a few seconds
  • you’re not a fan of tummy time but will tolerate it for a few minutes at a time
  • you still LOVE to turn your head to the left
  • you are sleeping well at night but haven’t made it past 6.5 hours yet
  • we think we’ve found one of your tickly spots – on your sides just under your armpits. You squirm like crazy whenever we tickle you there.
  • you are getting the hang of drinking out of a bottle and love your Daddy/Lily time
  • your eyes are a beautiful dark blue
  • you still love car rides and fall asleep almost every time
  • we think your tummy doesn’t tolerate onions well since every time Mom has some you cry and cry later that day
  • you like us to hold you with your legs curled up by your chest when your tummy hurts

Skit Night

Last Tuesday we went to Skit Night at the Dental School. This is the night when the four different dental classes act out some of the things that go on in school and make fun of their professors. These guys did an awesome job singing some fun songs that they changed the lyrics to.

These guys were haggling the girls walking by with all sorts of dental school innuendos. I didn’t understand half of them.Apr202010_0023

And this skit involved one of the pregnant professors giving birth to a VERY large baby. It was super awkward!Apr202010_0026 Apr202010_0033

Fun Times!

And I can’t take credit for any of these pictures. Matt took all of them because Lily was not a fan of the loud laughing and clapping so I spent some of the time out in the hall with her. He claims he doesn’t know how to take pictures, but he did great.

expensive lunch at the dental school

Lily and I went to the Dental School to see Matt and to show Lily where her Dad spends his days. Lily was like a magnet to any girls within a 10 foot radius. They all oohed and aahed over how cute she is. And I would have to say I agree with them 100%.April 14, 2010_1393

Then we got lunch at one of our favorite street vendors, Mike’s. He makes the BEST philly cheesesteak sandwiches ever. They’re better than the ones we had in Philly! So scrumptious!

During lunch I realized that in my rush to get Lily out of the car and into the dental school, I totally forgot to pay the parking meter. So our lunch turned into a more expensive trip than I was anticipating. Dumb new-mom brain.April 15, 2010_1407

After lunch we went to Cameron and Haley’s to help them take pictures of their gorgeous house that they’re putting on the market. Their cats were very interested in Lily.

I’m not so sure Lily is a fan. She must get that from her Dad :)

VA Beach

We spent the weekend with our friends soaking up the sun, playing in the sand, relaxing in the hot tub, playing video games, talking, eating yummy food, and enjoying time together.

And then proceeded to destroy it.

Which quickly turned into long jump practicing.

We are so grateful to have such wonderful friends from our Dental School days. It’s going to be hard to see us all go our separate ways in a month. I’m not ready for it. But life must go on._DSC1571

We’re Going to Miss DC

April 10, 2010_1174

Washington DC has become one of our favorite places to go. We have been several times over the past 4 years and still manage to see something new every time we go. This time we were able to go on a tour of the White House (thanks to our awesome friend with connections, Brittany).  It was neat to go in the White House, but I’m not sure it was worth the wait. We waited almost 2 hours in line and went through 3 security checks. Because of the security restrictions  we decided not to take Lily in with us. They don’t allow you to take practically ANYTHING with you. And since we weren’t able        to get a close parking spot we had to have Lily’s stuff with us. Luckily Cameron and Haley went with us and took Lily and her bag while we went on the tour. After all the waiting, we went through the tour pretty fast. We were in and out in less than 15 minutes. We probably didn’t get as much out of it as we could have, but now we can say we were cool enough to be in the White House, so I guess it was worth it.

We got to see the Vermeil room, China Room, and go in the East Room, Green Room, Blue Room, Red Room, and the State Dining Room. It was all beautiful with priceless paintings on the walls and the finest furnishings. We took pictures with Matt’s phone on the other side of the fence so I’ll see if I can get those from him later.

The Cherry Blossom Festival was going on the same day. IT WAS CRAZY! There were so many people, vendors everywhere, and hardly any cherry blossoms. We were bummed about the blossoms but it was still fun.April 10, 2010_1202

Not really sure what these guys were doing but we documented it nonetheless.April 10, 2010_1208April 10, 2010_1216

To get away from the crowds, we went to the Renwick Gallery. There was a neat gallery of artwork done by the people in the Japanese American Interment Camps. And my favorite piece was the Ghost Clock by Wendell Castle. The linen looks so real even though the whole thing is carved and bleached mahogany. Amazing.image

We also went to the top of the Old Post Office Tower. The view was spectacular!April 10, 2010_1240

We were all crammed in this elevator. Haley wasn’t the only one a little nervous about the ride.April 10, 2010_1254

Shortly after that picture was taken Lily decided that she wanted nothing to do with the Baby Bjorn. She cried and cried until we took her out. I ended up carrying her the 2+ miles back to our car so she could sleep. Needless to say, my arms were a little sore the next day. Along with the rest of my body. We figured out that we walked somewhere around 8 miles that day. That’s one way to work off the baby fat :)

So after our long, busy day (we were up and going at 4am and didn’t get home till almost 10pm) we ended on a good note with my favorite meatballs from IKEA.
