Denver Art Museum

A couple weeks ago the art museum had a free day. We love free days! We weren’t able to see the King Tut traveling exhibit but we still got to see a lot of great art. November 06, 2010_2045e

We saw some amazing things – like this mural made completely of sand. The detail was incredible.November 06, 2010_2056e

The foxes in the red room were a little interesting.November 06, 2010_2071e

This horse was carved sometime between 25 and 220. That’s crazy old!November 06, 2010_2060eNovember 06, 2010_2061e

This dustpan and broom reminded me of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.November 06, 2010_2077e

After the museum we went to Quiznos for lunch. Lily discovered the joy of drinking Daddy’s drink from the straw.November 06, 2010_2081e

Little Monkey Girl

Lily has moved on from crawling to climbing. She spends all day climbing up anything and everything she can. This has made life a little more interesting and Lily has experienced her first bumps and bruises. We love our little monkey girl and her love of exploring her world.November 05, 2010_2036e

November 18, 2010_2111e

One of the Dental Assistants at Matt’s work gave Lily this rocking horse, uh I mean zebra. She instantly loved it and quickly learned how to pull herself up to play with it.November 19, 2010_2129e

She still needs some help with balancing when she riding it.

I’ve logged many, many hours working on this book for Lily and I’m happy with how it turned out. I hope she likes it too.

The best thing about…

the first snow storm of the winter

November 11, 2010_2087e

is the excuse to wear these snazzy socks,

drinking this,

and snuggling with my girl watching this.

8 month

We can’t believe our little girl is 8 months already. Where is the time going?!

November 03, 2010_1988e

Lily, at 8 months:

  • you are CRAWLING!! You crawled for the first time on October 18th. We were thinking you would crawl while Grandma and Papa were here but you waited till the night they left.
  • your crawling is still a bit awkward but you are getting better and better everyday.
  • Now that you can get around, you definitely take advantage of it. You’re little knees are turning red from all your exploring. November 03, 2010_1952eNovember 03, 2010_2016e
  • Gone are the days when we could sit you down with some toys and didn’t have to worry about you wandering off
  • you are sleeping through the night again! YAY!
  • you continue to amaze us on how well you do when we have a busy day and you don’t get your regular naps. You are pretty content to just go with the flow. November 03, 2010_1957e
  • we have started giving you some of the food we are eating. You love pieces of bread.
  • Puff’s are like candy to you. They are our go-to move when you start to get fussy. November 03, 2010_1963e
  • we put you in the big bathtub for the first time and you loved it! You are getting so big.
  • this was by far the hardest photoshoot yet. As soon as I would have you set up, I’d hurry back to the camera only to find that you’d started crawling toward me. Hence the need for a toy to keep you occupied. I can only see these getting more and more difficult as the months go by.
  • I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Farmer, His Flower, and their Ladybug

We went to our ward Trunk-or-Treat and Chili cook-off (I made an awesome chili!)

October 29, 2010_1849e

Lily didn’t take very good naps that day so she wasn’t quite herself. She did not like seeing us in our costumes and cried whenever I put on my petals or Matt put his hat on.

October 29, 2010_1852e

Our ward went all out with fun games for the kids and even a bouncy house!October 29, 2010_1870e

We brought home a balloon from the ward party. Lily discovered balloons are the best!October 30, 2010_1902e

I didn’t manage to get any pictures of our decorated trunk but we got the prize for Best Trunk!

The next night we went to Dan And Jessica’s trunk-or-treat and helped them decorate their trunk. So you kind of get an idea of how ours was decorated. Their ward was much more serious when it comes to decorating trunks. There was one transformed into a dragon head, and another one like a treasure chest. October 30, 2010_1876e

This guy was awesome! Lily’s not quite sure.

October 30, 2010_1877e

They were the characters of Bolt (The Green-Eyed Man, Penny, Bolt, and Mittens)October 30, 2010_1887e

Halloween Day was beautiful. We spent time outside raking and playing in the leaves.

October 31, 2010_1924e October 31, 2010_1926e

Then we made our house the coolest on the street! I found this sign at Big Lots. It says, Dr. Killer Driller, DDS. Perfect sign (and probably true too) for my awesome dentist.October 31, 2010_1921e

October 31, 2010_1931e

Yeah, it was pretty awesome… You can’t see it very well but we had a fog machine right by the door. The kids loved it. We even had some people taking pictures of our house.October 31, 2010_1938e

Living in a house is so fun on Halloween.

More Chapman’s Come to Denver

Jason, Candice, and Jaycee came to visit us!

October 21, 2010_1370e

Jaycee had the best seat in the house! She loved staring at the fish. Matt has been slowly adding life to our aquarium. We now have 2 fish, several crabs, snails, and some corals. It’s really becoming a fun thing to sit and look at. October 22, 2010_1376e

We took our visitors to Hammond’s Candy Factory

October 22, 2010_1398e October 22, 2010_1413e

The packaging room was packed this time with little elves getting all the candies ready for Christmas.October 22, 2010_1416e

Before our tour started, Jason read The Polar Express with the girls. He is such a good uncle.  October 22, 2010_1379e

We got so see some candy makers start some candy canes. It is a very interesting process. I thought it was cool that one person stays with their candy through all the different steps until it is all finished.

October 22, 2010_1382e October 22, 2010_1389e

We went to our new favorite cafe for breakfast. We love it because it’s within walking distance of our house, it’s eclectic, and of course the food is wonderful.

 October 23, 2010_1424e October 23, 2010_1432e October 23, 2010_1433e

Matt was there too but I guess I didn’t get a picture of him. Sorry babe.

That night the rest of the fam came over. Lily was having a blast when Sophie and Jessica were playing with her. They would spin around and Sophie would surprise her. The giggles were infectious.October 23, 2010_1441e

Aunt Jessica is the best! Where’s that finger going, Tess?!October 23, 2010_1452e

Matt and I don’t wear watches so Lily was fascinated by Jason and Candice’s.October 23, 2010_1463e

Jaycee has the cutest little smile!October 23, 2010_1457e

And, of course, we had to get some updated portraits of cute little Jaycee at 3.5 months. Look at that tongue, she’s got personality!

Bumbo Buddies

 October 24, 2010_1550eWe carved pumpkins, always a favorite! October 24, 2010_1551e October 24, 2010_1562e October 25, 2010_1694eOctober 24, 2010_1564e October 24, 2010_1573e

Sophie and Tessa painted pumpkins too. Their pumpkins looked great!October 24, 2010_1577e

Matt carved the skeleton, Sophie and Jessica carved the cat, and Cami carved the tick-or-treating goblinOctober 24, 2010_1592e

Monday we went to lunch at Which Wich, one of our favorite sandwich places.

October 25, 2010_1706e

That afternoon we went to Dan’s Swearing in Ceremony and then had dinner at The Cherry Cricket  October 25, 2010_1719e October 25, 2010_1723e

As you can tell, it was a very “attention-keeping” ceremony. Jason and Jaycee got a lot out of it :) October 25, 2010_1727e October 25, 2010_1734e  October 25, 2010_1736e
