At the beginning of June, Matt had one of his afternoons free so we decided to go on a bike ride to a park to have lunch and fly kites.
Matt is so manly with this princess kite :) At least he has his Captain America shirt to balance it out. This princess kite was CRAZY! It was doing all kinds of flips and dives. It was quite temperamental.
Lily’s lunch pretty much consisted of chips and fruit snacks. I try.
We also had a fish kite that did awesome. We sent it up and never had any issues with it.
Chillaxin’ on the cooler
She was more interested in all the dandelions. These are the only flowers she’s allowed to pick so she really loves them!
Matt’s new bike. He LOVES this bike. It’s HUGE, but fits him perfectly. On the website, it’s said to be the “whale among minnows.” Some of his favorite parts: huge tires and tall frame, mud flaps (to keep his trousers clean!), seat with shocks, front headlight, bell that sounds like a doorbell – Ding Dong! And of course he loves it when Lily rides with him. We got this seat because the I-Bert took up too much space and he wouldn’t be able to ride with it. We found a really awesome little bike shop that we bought this bike from. They ordered the bike seat and even installed it for us.
On the way back, there is a really big hill. Which is really fun on the way there, but is a beast on the way back. So we decided we would try to go another way that we went on before and see if the hills were more manageable. Only problem, we missed the bridge we were supposed to take over the freeway and ended up going way out of our way and doubling the time it took us to get back. It was so hot and windy, we were not happy campers by the time we made it back to the house. Lesson learned – know where you’re headed or just deal with the hill.
A couple days later we went on another ride and Lily fell asleep like this on my bike. It was too funny. Don’t worry, we didn’t let her lay like this for long. It’s amazing what positions she can sleep in when she’s tired enough.
And yes, we went on the beast-of-a-hill this time. In case you were wondering.
