Apple Picking

On Saturday we went apple picking at Carter Mountain Orchard with Cameron and Haley, Davis and Linda, and Brian. We dropped off Kimberly at her work and got to pickn'. We got to pick Granny Smith and Golden Delicious. The funnest part was using the really long "apple picker" to get the apples high in the tree. We also enjoyed an apple slushie. There were a lot more people picking apples than we expected. We even saw one of the girls in our primary class. Matt has a soft spot for her (probably because her name is Lily).

Matt and I didn't get nearly as many apples as most of the people, but we still got more than we'll probably eat. One of the groups apple pickers was given to another group, so Cameron and Brian had to resort to some interesting techniques to get to the apples. Davis decided it would be better to just climb the tree.

After we had our fill of apples, we went to Charlottesville and had a picnic lunch at a little park that we found with the help of Brian's GPS in his car. We actually weren't planning on eating at a park. Cameron wanted to eat at the campus of the University of Virginia. He failed to look up the events calendar and find out that Charlottesville had two big events going on- The Vegetarian Festival and a football game. There were people everywhere. We drove around for over half an hour looking for parking and ended up in the parking lot of McDonald's. That's when we decided to bag the campus picnic and find a park.

That night we had hamburgers and potatoes with Brian and Kimberly. Friends are so great!!
