The 4th of July

On Tuesday, the 3rd, A baby bird fell into the window well. Matt got to be the humanitarian for the day and help the little bird to safety. Hopefully it won't fall in again seeing as this was the second time this little guy had fallen in since we arrived in Utah. The odds aren't looking good.

While in Utah, there are a few places we try to eat at. One of which is Gecko's, a mexican restaraunt in South Jordan. They have great food and their fast, which is always a plus in a busy vacation schedule. Here's Matt holding Sophie while we wait for our table to be ready. I'm so proud of him! This was the first time I'd actually seen him make an effort to hold a baby under the age of 1 without pretty much being forced.

That same day, Tom bought a new car from his brother Bob, who has recently started selling cars. His Ford Taurus is a lot different than the Ford Explorer he had had for years.

After dinner at Gecko's, we went to the new movie Transformers. The girls all thought it was pretty good, but the guys all agreed that it was an awesome movie, with tons of fight scenes.

We went back to Chapman's where the guys had been planning an all-night Halo fest. Jason brought his big screen LCD tv and they moved the LCD tv from upstairs down to the basement so that each of the guys could play on their own tv. It was a "pretty sweet set-up" as Matt says. The girls talked and played games until about 12:30 and then went to bed. The guys didn't stop playing until 6am before they decided to go to sleep.

After sleeping for a few hours, the 4th of July found us out in the garden where Matt helped his Dad fix the fence and work in the round pond-repotting some of the lilies.

That night we went to the Real Salt Lake soccer game where they lost 2-1 to Toronto. Jason was torn whether or not to cheer for his team from his mission. We enjoyed snow shack snow cones and roasted almonds (thanks Candice!).

Les Olsen Company (Tom's work) sponsored the fireworks show after the game so all the family and friends of the company got to go down and sit on the field for the fireworks. It was pretty cool, complete with patriotic songs in the background.
Elise was loving it! She was clapping her hands and saying Ahh! with everyone when the big ones boomed. very cute.
