One Jam-Packed Weekend

The first Sunday in March we (Matt) blessed Emma at church. And, having the wonderful, supportive family that we do, we had lots of people come visit us and celebrate our sweet little Emma being a part of our family. March 02, 2012_2068March 02, 2012_2073March 02, 2012_2078March 02, 2012_2076

That Thursday, Tom and Nina flew in to Denver and stayed with Daniel and Jessica in their new house. Jason, Candice, and Ann (and all their kidlets) drove in to Denver the same day and also stayed with Dan and Jessica.

We made the drive up to Denver on Friday and we celebrated Nina’s birthday. Doesn’t she look fabulous for being 60?! To celebrate, we took Nina on a shopping spree at the Outlets at Castle Rock where she got some super cute clothes! Then we had lunch at Red Robin.

March 02, 2012_2083

The littlest ones got to go shopping with us.

March 02, 2012_2082March 02, 2012_2081

The older ones got to hang out with the guys. I think they had a good time!

March 02, 2012_2090

Then we ate lunch at Red Robin. (yummmm!)

That Ranch is good stuff, huh Jaycee?!

March 02, 2012_2124

Red Robin always does a great job making the birthday person feel extra special with a VERY loud song (complete with rhythmic clapping).

March 02, 2012_2130

She quickly became the favorite at the table Smileand was nice enough to give out samples of her sundae.

March 02, 2012_2133

Friday evening we drove back home to wait for my family to come. Tom and Nina made the drive too and Lily got to open some birthday presents from Grandma and Papa.

March 02, 2012_2136

I wasn’t quick enough with getting my camera settings right and Lily was so excited that almost all of them are blurry. oh well.

March 02, 2012_2139March 02, 2012_2141

After their 15 hour drive, my family finally rolled into town. They do not have good luck with Colorado roads and always get stuck in storms and have to drive super slow. We just have to convince them to in the summer next time.

March 02, 2012_2146

Emma greeted them with some big smiles.

March 02, 2012_2147March 02, 2012_2150

Saturday morning we started out with a little photo shoot with the blanket that Curt and Brittany made for Emma. They got out Lily’s blanket that they made too so we’d remember which blanket they made for each of our girls. Isn’t that so nice of them?!

March 03, 2012_2173March 03, 2012_2160

The family came over from their hotel to hang out with us until we went to an early lunch.

March 03, 2012_2187March 03, 2012_2188

We wanted to introduce Matt’s family to “the slopper” (basically a cheeseburger covered in green chili)

March 03, 2012_2195

The restaurant was so nice in accomodating all 20+ of us.

March 03, 2012_2199March 03, 2012_2200March 03, 2012_2205

After lunch we went to the children’s museum. Matt and Elise made a sweet house for Thumbelina.

March 03, 2012_2207March 03, 2012_2210

I can see a budding interior designer in the family Smile

March 03, 2012_2209

Sophie loved the princess dress-ups and the carriage.

March 03, 2012_2213

The little girls having a tea party. Too cute.

March 03, 2012_2214March 03, 2012_2217March 03, 2012_2218

Gracie and Mindy played with the dragons.

March 03, 2012_2219

Jaycee trying out some painting. Not bad.

March 03, 2012_2221

Grandma and Lily putting magnet shapes on the tractor

March 03, 2012_2223March 03, 2012_2226

Melody checking out the enormous kaleidoscope.

March 03, 2012_2227

Gracie holding Emma. Over the course of the three days they were here, Gracie held Emma probably 15 or more times. She LOVES babies. I think it’s so cute. She’s going to be a fantastic mother someday.

March 03, 2012_2228

Leave it up to Matt to come up with a new (not so safe) way to play with the toys.

March 03, 2012_2232March 03, 2012_2234

Izzy getting crazy on the “turtle shells”

March 03, 2012_2241

That kaleidoscope is definitely a two person job.

March 03, 2012_2242

Melody liked playing the horse game.

March 03, 2012_2244

And then she had a little jam session with her guitar…on a dragon of course.

March 03, 2012_2249

Being so tricky! She is definitley a little dare-devil and tries to push the limits. That explains all the bruises.

March 03, 2012_2253March 03, 2012_2256

Saturday night we reserved our clubhouse at our apartment complex and we had burgers. It was so nice to have a place that we could all spread out.

March 03, 2012_2258March 03, 2012_2260

Ann and Jason were competing for the best “stuffing-my-face” picture. You be the judge.

March 03, 2012_2263March 03, 2012_2264

My mom and dad and sister, Mindy. I think they’re pretty great.

March 03, 2012_2269March 03, 2012_2270March 03, 2012_2271

Matt’s parents. They’re pretty awesome too. We are truly blessed to have such great family.

March 03, 2012_2272

The next morning at church, Matt gave Emma a beautiful blessing. I’m so grateful that Matt has the priesthood and is able to use it to bless our little family.

March 04, 2012_2280March 04, 2012_2290March 04, 2012_2295

Tessa and Emma having a little cousin bonding time.

March 04, 2012_2306

We reserved the clubhouse Sunday afternoon for lunch.

March 04, 2012_2308March 04, 2012_2309March 04, 2012_2316March 04, 2012_2323March 04, 2012_2325

The party went outside where the skies were perfect for some kite flying.

March 04, 2012_2328

Anytime we see kites on sale, Matt insists on buying a handful. It sure came in handy when all the little girls wanted their own kites.

March 04, 2012_2329

Saley did an awesome job with her kite.

March 04, 2012_2330

Lily, not so much.

March 04, 2012_2334

After a few tries though, we had it soaring.

March 04, 2012_2337March 04, 2012_2341

Everyone packed in our tiny apartment. It sure helped out having Lily’s toys in her room so the kids had somewhere to go.

March 04, 2012_2347

March 04, 2012_2348

By the end of the night, Lily was so exhausted. She didn’t get to take a nap because her room was constantly being used by other little people. The only place she wanted to be was right next to me while I was feeding Emma. She fell asleep almost instantly.

March 04, 2012_2350

That night Dan and Jessica drove back to Denver and the next morning the rest of our guests made their way back to Utah. We are so grateful they were all able to visit us and celebrate our sweet little peanut. We can’t thank you enough for making us feel so special.
