Monticello was one of the places in Virginia that I wanted to see before leaving. It was so neat to learn about such a great man in the history of our country. We discovered that Thomas Jefferson was almost obsessed about keeping good records. He documented the weather twice a day and kept a copy of every letter he ever wrote. He also loved books and had one of the biggest libraries of his time.
We tried to plan the tour perfectly so Lily would be fed and changed and hopefully fall asleep so we could take full advantage of our time in Jefferson’s house. Well, we were doing awesome until an alarm went off in the house and we had to evacuate. During the time we were waiting for the OK to go back inside Lily woke up. We weren’t able to see the octagon room because she was getting fussy and every little noise she made echoed like crazy! But we got to see everything else so it wasn’t too bad.
