Jamestown 4.11.09

We went with Brian and Kimberly to the settlement of Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in the U.S, founded on May 14, 1607. First we went through the Native American settlement where we got to walk through homes, grind corn, and watch a volunteer cut herself while showing us how to make a rock shard. I'm sure Native Americans had a first aid kit in 1607.

Then we went to the shipyard, my favorite part. It was neat to be able to go inside and see how the sailors lived, and to see how small the captain's quarters were - not like in the movies.

The next part was the settlement. The best was when Matt and Brian put on the armor - Matt has on the smallest breastplate with the biggest helmet, and Brian has the biggest breastplate with the smallest helmet. I love how they keep us entertained!Jamestown 093 Jamestown 120 Jamestown 132Jamestown 127 Jamestown 130  Jamestown 136
