As usual, it was a bit of a struggle to get the kite to stay in the air. Adjustments had to be made to the tail. Our newspaper kite was soon flying high in the sky.
We even had it doing tricks--flipping and diving all over the place.
There were some other kite flyers at the park. They kept looking at our kite (in envy, of course). They had kites that looked like they were from Costco. And any of you that have had experience with their kites you understand that these kites are not made to fly. But they sure look cool. We quickly made it to the end of the line so we layed the blanket down to sit and gaze and the little diamond in the sky.
Since the kite was flying great, Matt decided to tie the line to his foot. Brilliant!
We readjusted the blanket, sat back down and looked up only to find that our kite was no longer in the air. With our attention on the blanket neither of us noticed the kite plummet right into the trees.
Matt tried to pull it out but broke the string instead. And that was the end of our kite flying for the day. We gathered up our things, took some farewell pictures of the kite and headed home.
