I love living within a day’s drive to Utah. It means lots more time with family that we’ve been missing the past four years. My family was supposed to have a family reunion but because of a miscommunication our location was double-booked so we couldn’t go. Matt had already taken the time-off and couldn’t really tell his assistants to cancel their vacations and come back to work, so we decided to go to Utah anyway.
On the way there we tried to feed Lily with a bottle to save time. We quickly learned that she has decided she wants NOTHING to do with the bottle! She screamed for almost an hour until we could stop somewhere for me to feed her. Despite our extra stops, we still made it to Utah in 9hrs. not bad.
To keep Lily entertained Matt gave her a pretzel stick. She loved licking it and mashing it in her hand. When it got too small and we had to take it away she cried until we gave her another one. We’re finding out this girl’s got SASS!
We were so excited to meet baby Jaycee!! She is super cute and looks just like her momma.
Saturday we went with my family on a hike up to Donut Falls. This hike is an awesome choice for families that want a short easy hike. And the falls are constantly changing because of landslides in the spring. There are always new obstacles at the top. Lily loved her first experience hiking, especially looking at all the trees and getting to ride on Grandpa’s shoulders!
That night we had a mini-campout to celebrate all the August Birthdays. Since we have so many, the cake had to be abbreviated. So Happy Birthday to Shar, Natalie, Lexi, Bud, and Mom!
Unfortunately the party turned south when little Noah tripped and got burned from a handful of ash. But apparently now he’s a little Michael Jackson with an awesome white glove! Hope you’re feeling better Noah.
Sunday we hung out with the Chapman Clan playing games, eating yummy food, and visiting with Grandma.
And one last picture of Lily getting a little taste of the “Granddaddy of all Root Beers” :)
