Happy Easter!!!

Happy Easter everyone!! This Easter it was just the two of us. With family miles away, we decided to spend some time with friends. Friday we went to Brian and Kimberly's for dinner and games.

Saturday we woke up to find snow covering the ground. It is the first snow that has actually accumulated and stayed on the ground for more than half an hour. Of course it was gone by noon but it was exciting while it lasted.

That night we had friends over for decorating eggs (along with food and games). We tried some new decorating techniques.

The first we dripped wax from candles on the eggs and then dipped them in the dye, put more wax on, and dipped again.

The other technique included onion skins, leaves, cloth, and rubberbands. We took the raw egg and wrapped it in multiple layers of onion skins and leaves (we used leaves from our boston fern). This is wrapped by a piece of cloth and secured tightly with rubberbands. The wrapped eggs went into a pot of water and boiled.

The water turned a yellowish brown color. yummy. We unwrapped the eggs and revealed a very cool design. Here are some of the best pictures.

After we had finished with the onions, Brian was dared to take a bite out of one of them. And of course, he was not going to back down from the challenge. No one wanted to sit close to him the rest of the night.

Sunday, the Easter Bunny treated us to candy-filled baskets and a bubble gum dispensing chicken for Matt.

HA HA!
That is Jill's favorite Easter toy too! She plays with hers often just for a giggle. Why are bodily function jokes so funny!
